Tadhg O Cuinn Was One Of A Number of Gaelic physicians

Brigid Mayes BSc. NIMH will give an insight  into the practices of Tadgh O Cuinn who  is regarded as on of the great Gaelic Physicians of early 1400.

Brigid will give a very informative insight into one of the threads of the history of herbal medicine in Ireland. Brigid will  show  a variety of the plants included in the Materia Medica of Tadhg O Cuinn.

Tadhg O Cuinn was one of a number of Gaelic physicians who studied in some of the most renowned medical schools in Europe, bringing back the fruits of their learning to share with students and practitioners at home.

The Materia Medica was completed just over 600 years ago, in the year 1415. Herbalists today use many of the plants that O Cuinn writes about.
