Calendula – Marigolds
Calendula or more commonly known as Marigolds and are part of the daisy family. The name Calendula is a modern Latin diminutive “little calendar”, “little clock” or possibly “little weather-glass”.They are native to southwestern Asia, western Europe, Macaronesia, and the Mediterranean. The marigold is an extremely effective herb for natural treatment of lots of conditions.
Marigolds come in different colors, yellow and orange being the most common. Most of the marigolds have strong, pungent odor. Marigolds are hardy, annual plants and are great plants for cheering up any garden.We grow lots of marigolds in our herb garden at Roscore Clinic.

Marigold (Calendula) is an extremely effective herb for the treatment of:
- skin problems
- inflammation of the skin, whether due to infection or physical damage
- crural ulceration
- varicose veins
- haemorrhoids
- anal fissures
- mastitis
- sebaceous cysts
- impetigo
The sap from the stem is use in the treatment to remove warts, corns and calluses.
The petals are used to treat inflammation in the eye externally
The flower heads are used to treat inflammation generally in the body
All upper plant parts used together is an ideal lymphatic medicine. The whole plant can also be used as a specific to treat menopausal issues, especially when combined with other herbs
