The Rose- Rosa Gallica- French Rose- Natural Treatment
The Gallic rose, French rose, or rose of Provins, is a species of flowering plant in the rose family, native to southern and central Europe eastwards to Turkey and the Caucasus. We grow this beautiful member of the Rose Family in our herb garden at Roscore Clinic and use it for the natural treatment of many conditions.
Habitat: Hedges and woods, usually on calcareous soils
- The stems with prickles and glandular bristles.
- The leaves are pinnate, with three to seven bluish-green leaflets.
- The flowers are clustered one to four together, single with five petals, fragrant, deep pink.
Parts of Plant used for Natural Treatment:
The petals are antibacterial, astringent and tonic. They are taken internally in the treatment of
- bronchial infections
- depression and lethargy.
Externally, they are used to treat
- eye infections
- sore throats
- minor injuries
- skin problems e. g. eczema, psoriasis, dry skin, acne .
The Rose – Rosa Gallica – French Rose can be used to treat female reproductive issues and stress . It is a supportive tonic for depletion generally, and specifically for the immune system.
The fruit of many members is a very rich source of vitamins and minerals, especially in vitamins A, C and E.
